  • A too dark, too morose Batman that's uninspiring.

Recently I've started watching some of the DC animated movies. I absolutely loved "Batman Hush", "Son of Batman", "Batman Ninja", "Batman: Year One" and "Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay". So, I thought I'd view "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns". I really found this movie annoying and uninspiring. I found the Batman in this movie just a little too dark and too morose for my taste. Also, throughout the film there was this constant back and forth to TV newscasters that annoyed the hell out of me. They were also interjecting these silly "talk show" debates about whether Batman was a criminal that should be caught and punished or that he was good for society. So cliche. I found the villains just violent, stupid and completely uninteresting. I didn't really care for the supporting characters in this movie or the new "woke" Robin or the new "woke" replacement of Commissioner Gordon. The one good thing I liked about this movie was the original soundtrack and the quality of the animation. From the other reviews it seems there were a lot of people who liked this film and I hope it wasn't a loss for DC but I will not be adding it to my movie collection.

These two movies show a dark dynamic between the joker and batman which plays out perfectly through the jokers crimes and Peter Weller voicing Batman. It really gets me hyped for the new Killing Joke animated movie that comes out this summer
  • Ripped from the comics

Batman, girl Robin, mutants, Superman, and Joker all in the same action packed adventurous movie! What's not to love. Incredible plot, amazing action and violence, beautiful animation, and hard core voice casting. DC nailed it with this movie!

This is my all time favorite Batman story, it shows a grizzled dark knight who has been through some difficult times but realizes being Batman is his destiny If you are a fan of Batman I highly recommend this film; the action sequences are fantastic and the soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal you will not be disappointed with this movie. Plus Peter Weller does a great job voicing Batman on par with Kevin Conroy
