Nobody's Fool

Just like any good movies, every viewing makes you discover new nuances that you have not seen before. I have not seen that many Paul Newman’s movies but he embodies this character so much, that this is the movie that I think of when I think of this great and amazing actor and humanitarian. The movie moves at a slow place to get us familiar with most of the characters in the movie who each adds the subtle layers into the whole story. The protagonist could be someone you know that quietly and unknowingly do things that seem like no big deal. And the icing in the cake is that this is Jessica Tandy’s last movie and the movie, deservedly so, was dedicated to her memory.

It is such a nice story--and reminds me of growing up in a small (snowy) town in Michigan. No CGI, or special effects, just great actors and actresses. Jessica Tandy is so dignified, yet empathetic. Paul Newman is still charming and handsome--in his seventies, the definition of aging gracefully. I don't review much, but this one for some reason makes me feel good and that is why I give it five stars.

Since there is no timeline on a Blu-ray- its good to have this HD option.

I wish there were more actors of this generation with the class and talent of Paul Newman...... Another brilliant movie of his that compels you to watch and watch and watch. For all men that had fathers that did not communicate-- this is your movie.

Paul Newman plays Sully, a bitter old man who has made a lot of mistakes his entire life and hasn't seemed to learn from any of them. The town is full of people that interact with Sully on various levels which give you glimpses at how this loser has a good heart. All of the acting is great, the music score is beautiful and really adds to the enjoyment of the film (I wish it was available to download or buy on CD) and you will find yourself rooting for Sully and hoping for the same things the townsfolk hope for when it comes to him. This is not a big budget movie with cool special f/x or a goofball buddy comedy or any number of types of movies that do well at the movies. This is a human story with a lot of heart that will make you feel a lot of things. If nothing else, you should see it because its Jessica Tandy's final role before she passed away, but the movie is so worth owning to watch again and again.

Paul Newman as an elderly man with all of the hardships that implies, but the movie has heart! Also has the beautiful Jessica Tandy in her final role. This is about real people in a small town and the ongoing war of the snowblower is entertaining by itself. So many characters all involved in the story make this movie enjoyable at many levels - it's a keeper.
