Tom Cruise ignites the screen in this runaway smash hit that "holds you on the edge of your seat before blasting you out of it." (Howard Rosenberg, Los Angeles Times). Cruise stars as Ethan Hunt, a secret agent framed for the deaths of his espionage team. Fleeing from government assassins, breaking into the CIA's most impenetrable vault, clinging to the roof of a speeding bullet train, Hunt races like a burning fuse to stay one step ahead of his pursuers... and draw one step closer to discovering the shocking truth.

For a 1996 film, it was action packed and Tom Cruise is very entertaining

The memorable dangling scene. You know back when movies had memorable scenes or lines What’s memorable from the sequels or the Bourne movies. Nothing. I laugh at all the character development talk. Are you kidding. Mission Impossible movies for acting? This series (tv and movies) always was low brow entertainment. The movies ain’t winning any oscars. Please. Oh and boring...see this the problem with the brain dead modern marvel movie crowd. They want their unmemorable non stop action movies that nobody will remember a week after seeing it. It opens with almost everybody dying. It ends with a train top fight and a helicopter encounter at the same time. Boring. Marvel nerds messed up movies forever. Please bring back movie one liners and memorable scenes. Who am I kidding. It’s been 23 years of forgettable crap. It’s over. Anyway great movie. The last from the now dead final era of worthwhile Hollywood films.

Mission: Impossible seems to be a film that attempted to write filler exposition sequences in between a few incredibly intense and beautifully directed spy set pieces. And it doesn’t result in the most polished product. It’s a largely uneventful and convoluted story that’s only carried by Tom Cruise’s elevating performance and its little yet memorable action. It’s hard to be emotionally invested when there is no character work being done here, but if you’re looking for entertainment, this movie (sometimes) gives it in full force. 6.5/10
