Description

Millions of Americans struggle with addiction. Most need help to stop. From compulsive gamblers to shopaholics to drug addicts, Intervention profiles people whose dependencies or compulsive behaviors have brought them to a point of personal crisis and estranged them from their friends and loved ones. Season 5 of this powerful, gripping and award-winning documentary series opens with Chad, a gifted athlete who became homeless after his once promising career as a pro-cyclist was cut short by his addiction to crack cocaine, and includes a one-hour special in which former addicts from the past four seasons come together for an intimate and candid discussion about how their individual interventions changed their lives. See as well what choices the addicts in Season 5 make once confronted by family, friends and a professional interventionist: will they choose to go to treatment and get help or face exile and isolation from those who love them most?

I just bought both "Anthony" episodes and they're both different addicts. The Anthony in Season 3 was a 21 year-old cocaine addict, Anthony in season 5 is a 22 year-old alcoholic and drug addict.

Depression, Hopelessness..ADDICTION. All masterfully displayed on A&E's reality hit show Interventions. Join average, every day looking people with their struggle with alcohol, controlled substances and mental illness. The first time you watch this show you will chill back with disbelief with the destructive, saddening and real results which come from a life under the control of addiction. Jugdement may even leave your thoughts as you are made aware of how traumatic experiences in these individual's lives, have shaped their various relief systems. The show Interventions comes to a refreshing turn as you see the individual faced with a choice: Life or Death. You later follow "the now turned patient" into the stage of recovery. The close of the show sometimes ends with amazing clips of the patient free from the pulls of their pass addiction.

I too have to ask-where is Casey? That was one of the most poignant episodes, yet it is nowhere to be found. These episodes are a great addition to the series. I find Intervention to be moving, sometimes frustrating but always informative and full of hope. I've heard it said that the addicts are being taken advantage of for entertainment's sakes, but if not for this show, what would have happened to them? Kudos to A & E (and I don't give that channel many anymore) for continuing this look into the world of the broken. But again, where is Casey? Please add that episode to this season.
