A must for Bowie fans

I’m surprised that no one has commented on this concert video yet. This is recorded in ’83 and has Bowie’s 80’s sound to it. For fans of both Bowie in the 70’s and the 80’s, Bowie includes a mixture of songs from both eras. So, for those only familiar with "Let’s Dance", “China Girl", etc. they will be satisfied with the song selections, as will people that remember Bowie’s earlier stuff like “Looking Back in Anger” (co-written with Brian Eno). The sound for all of the songs is Bowie’s 80’s sound, so there are a lot of horns and up-tempo work on the tracks. For me, on some songs like “Scary Monsters” and “Cat People”, it seems to detract a little from them as they lose their gritty or darker sound, but overall it works well and classics like “Space Oddity” are performed with the feeling you’d expect.
There is no makeup or elaborate costumes here and the video quality is weak (no HD), but it is Bowie live and there is a rare video experience with good audio/vocal qualities. This is complemented with interesting arrangement changes on songs like “Fame” and great musical performances by the like of Earl Slick on guitar for his color and jam on “White Light, White Heat”.
