Moonage Daydream

Clearly this film was a feat to construct and edit and was (mostly) a visual delight BUT missed the mark on being an historical record of much of Bowie’s life and musical career. A stoner’s dream to view, but not a great documentary.

We were very excited to watch this at home as we had missed watching at the cinema. The first 30 mins was interesting to watch but as the movie went on it lost our interest. We just about made it to the end a real shame as we both grew up from the start of the Bowie era.

I am a Bowie fan. Love the last concert video/ movie of concerts he had done. That was the Bowie I liked. The early stuff was a staged show of LSD emotions. And thats what you have here. Snipits of Bowie and then an acid flashback trip and performance art and backdrop filming of performance art shown on stage during songs. Nice to see Mick Ronson again. He took a long time to get recognized into the rock and roll hall of fame. But he went literally from garbage man to the top of his profession and truly deserving of #14 all time. He was a virtuoso! Gone too soon. This has a few early pics I had not seen of young David Jones. And a couple video clips of interviews. Earth moving documentary.NOPE. But a semi interesting look into the past as there will be no new footage or concerts and we are left to absorb pieces of what he left us with and I do like to absorb it all as the man the icon who was gone way too soon.

Extraordinary! A must watch!

If you’re looking for a music video with snippets of thoughts, this is for you. If you’re expecting an actual documentary that pays homage to one of the greatest rock icons of all time; forget about it! This is perhaps one of the most incoherent messes I’ve ever seen. It’s like Andy Warhol and Hunter S Thompson did acid together and then had a baby, that was also on acid. Zero stars wasn’t an option.

A vibrant take of what David Bowie did and continues to do! A timeless story that could only be told by the artist himself. A true masterpiece that was worth the wait. Nobody could even embody nor encapsulate the majesty that Bowie was.

Saw it in iMax today. So well worth it on the big screen to see Bowie and his performances larger than life. This may the best posthumous documentary on any musician I’ve ever seen. Can’t stop thinking about the man, the music, the muse and the message.
