Description

Sensual vampire story stars rock legend David Bowie ("The Man Who Fell to Earth," "The Last Temptation of Christ") as an ailing centuries-old vampire whose fanged-lover, Catherine Deneuve ("Indochine," "Repulsion," "Belle de Jour"), seeks a new partner and seduces a mortal medical researcher (Oscar-winner Susan Sarandon -- "Dead Man Walking," "Stepmom," "The Client"). Directed by block-buster helmer Tony Scott ("Top Gun," "Crimson Tide," "Enemy of the State"). With Dan Hedaya ("Clueless," "The First Wives' Club," "Marvin's Room") and a cameo by Willem Dafoe ("The English Patient," "Platoon," "The Last Temptation of Christ").

I would have loved to see more of Bowie in this movie rather than just 30 minutes.

I distinctly remember during the music scene they play Schubert’s Trio in E Flat in the original movie- in this version they do not, although the Trio in E Flat is heard throughout the film. I have the original VHS, but it’s packed up and in storage.

I gave it 4 stars because I'm not a big vampire fan. However, It's beautifully done for being a modern vampiric love story. Sarandon and Deneuve were amazing, and you can't go wrong with David Bowie on the bill!! It's a shame Bowie doesn't get offered more roles.

I first saw this movie when I was a kid and didn't understand the lesbian scenes (didn't know what a lesbian was) other than that I loved the movie but appreciate it more now as an adult.

When this came out NObody was taking these risks, not even in"horror". I dare say this is still sitting at an edge others haven't even found yet. Slow and even, not the flash and gore we expect today...
  • Unique vampire movie

i still own the VHS version... i've always loved this for the cast, cinematography and unique pacing. Not a typical vampire movie but that's what makes it special.

Although this is a vampire flick, I've always considered more of a twisted romance film. Very posessive, very cannibalistic, its beautiful!!

This has always been one of my favorite movies and I thoroughly recommend it but why is it classified as a 'thriller' when it is quite obviously a horror movie?... I mean, it's about vampires not secret agents................
