More of a realistic love story, sort of sad but original. Great dialogues and Natalie was amazing

For anyone who has ever loved, been loved, heart broken or betrayed, this is a must see film! This film truly makes you think, and takes us to look at love and relationships outside of the box. ‘Love is a losing game...’ Life is full of compromises, some of us simply do more so than others! This film was complex, filled with amazing acting, and amazing dialogue… Both ladies and gentlemen should watch this film! Highly recommended!
  • The Book-End to “Pretty Woman"

Is this the passing of the torch from one 'gen' to the next? I think “Pretty Woman” was (still is) a classic. And I really did not realize until the closing scene of this movie that this could be thought of as a modern remake of ‘Pretty Woman’. So, I give this movie five stars. And is it (or will it be) a ‘classic’? Probably. There are (at least) two ways to think about how love is portrayed in this movie and I think they are both correct. One way is to note that humans are probably only practice serial monogamy. The other way to think of the movie is note that humans can be very fragile emotional creatures. Before this movie and one other I have never seen any movies starring Ms Portman other than the “Star Wars Prequels”. I did enjoy them and thought Ms Portman was a very good choice for the mom of Skywalker and Leia. Then I saw on Netflix a recommendation for the movie "Léon: The Professional” and before watching it looked at its Wikipedia page and found out that it was Ms Portman’s first movie. So I watched it and thought it could be interpreted as a ‘modern’ version of the french books/movie ‘Matilda’. So an ‘updated’ version of ‘Matilda' then onto an ‘updated’ version of “Pretty Woman”? Well now I suppose I’ll have to watch the movie ‘Black Swan’ and see if it reminds me of other older movies.

It all runs like a little engine. The cause and effect pitched just right. But the question is why would anyone live the way these people do? There is no pleasure. In the end, as with many stories like this, there is only grief and guilt. There is no song. Why did they bother with each other if they were all so splendidly disappointing. There is no soul-shake here. Just indictment. The judge, the punishment, but the joy of the crime is missing.

This movie is probably one of my favorite movies out there. Watch it. You won't be disappointed.

This film is about raw human emotions in sex, betrayals, passion, lies, blackmail & love. The first really "adult" film for Natalie Portman, who is wonderfully believable and comfortable despite the subject matter. It is a story about real love, perceived love, love based on a lie, love unrequited and so much more. Clive Owen is great as the apparently weak doctor who falls in love with Julia Roberts. As is Jude Law whom you can't decide if he really loves her or just wants to get her away from Clive Owen while telling Portman he loves her as well. The film is uncomfortable and painful to watch at times, but it is brutally honest. One of the best films on human emotion I have ever seen.

This is an extreme way to show how the grey parts of relationships exist. The acting is extraordinaire. Great cast and not a film to be taken lightly as your average love chick flick. I consider this film as my top 5 fav's. must see.

I just watched this movie for the first time EVER last week & it was amazing! This isn't your typical happy predictable love story. It is however racy, vulgar, shocking & quite beautiful. It gives a great look at how people in relationships have these secret lives basically showing how people are not really close with each other at all & what defines a bad relationship to simply a relationship. CLOSER has some great storytelling, great charater development, great acting.. it's just great in general. A must see if you already haven't!!!

It reveals an ugly truth about modern day relationships. Lust takes over as this movie stuns beyond belief. A gripping tale of how we all see ourselves in relationships and how others see us.
