Description

When reconnaissance satellites pick up a radioactive heat signature in a remote tribal region of Afghanistan, CIA Agent Benjamin Keynes (Jonas Ball) is sent in to investigate the phenomenon. Amidst the bedlam of the war-torn region, the Agency fears that Al-Qaida has finally gotten their hands on a nuclear weapon. However, it seems that this threat may be coming from something much more powerful, and definitely not human. THE OBJECTIVE blurs genre lines in a smart look at post-9/11 paranoia as well as at the ancient cultural reasons why hundreds of years of conflict and numerous attempts at occupation have made war after war in Afghanistan end, or at least become suspended, in futility. From IFC Films. Winner of the Audience Award at the 2008 New York City Horror Festival, THE OBJECTIVE is "a very sweaty psychological thriller" – Scott Weinberg, CINEMATICAL

I greatly enjoyed viewing this film. I'm actually quite surprised that it never made it into theaters but never the less this is definitely a top-pick on my list. The storyline, accuracy of the setting and even the uniforms were dead on. I've probably rented this 2 or 3 times and I would recommend it to anyone who has a vast amount of interest in things beyond our understanding.

I actually really enjoyed this film. It was really well shot and the storyline is excellent. I thought the ending could have been laid out a bit better and with a little more explanation but all in al is was very entertaining. I would consider it way more of a thriller than a horror film but it was very realistic throughout as far as the military operation was conducted. Give it a shot. You may really enjoy this film.

I kept waiting for something to happen. Seems like the writers were stuck in the first paragraph.
  • Compelling Si Fi Drama

This movie held my interest, and was paced well. Professional Commandos dealing with the unknown. The movie doesn't attempt to be a Chick Flick with Guys flashing ripped abs, and making suggestive inuendos. The movie had a realistic sense of urgency, and serious drama. A refreshing change from so many of the bombastic, gimmicy films today.

do not listen to RT, after watching this movie, I can conclude that they have no idea what they are talking about. The RT reviewers are a bunch of LA doucebags, who woulden't know a good movie if they sat down and watched one, because that is apparently what they did in this case. So, iTunes, please get rid of the RT section.

I'm no slouch when it comes to following and/or appreciating nuanced films. I'm not one of those expecting explosions every five minutes or a bit of skin to keep my attention. This was one of the most ill-conceived, faintly acted and generally vague films I have ever seen. Honestly, I would really not recommend this to anyone. Student level filmmaking.

This is not a war movie, or an action movie. Nor, did I find it to be a horror movie. None of those are bad things. I really enjoyed it, and actually watched it more than once. It would appeal, I think, to folks who enjoyed "The Outer Limits", and that like movies that make you think... With a si-fi slant. I found it well worth the price of a rental.
