I watched this awesome movie on repeat everyday at bedtime. No movie is better when it’s late at night and the Illuminati have ruined your day with their enslavement ideology. My dude Garfunkel plays the best part. If this was filmed on O-Block I bet me some nasty that the cyclone eat ‘em up bad tho. Peace Peace

I remember getting this when it came out on video as my wife was very interested in seeing it. And I also remember sitting through it and wondering how I could get the time I spent watching it back. I still have scars on my scalp from all the head-scratching I did during this mess of a movie. Wth were they thinking?!?

I rented this movie on a recommendation, pertaining to hidden symbolisms and an undercurrent about the child pedophelia/abuse that runs rampant in Pedowood / Hollywood. I could barely stay awake. Couldn't understand half the dialog (heavy european accent). $5 and 2 hours of my life I'll never get back. Might have been better under the influence of psychedelics. I guess somebody has to pay for these celebrities supply of adrenochrome and expensive spirit cooking dinners.

Terry Gilliam doesn't really know how to tell a story or develop characters. This movie has no heart and you don't feel for anyone. So the visuals don't really serve any purpose. Waste of time.

Visually stunning. It's a great story about good and evil with a warn and enchanting quality that keeps you watching and wanting more. It's like movie cocaine. Well done Mr. Gilliam.

If you like movies that are out of the ordinary, a little trippy, and make you think, you will love this movie... if you like mainstream movies with a normal plot, then you will hate this movie. Fair warning to everyone.

  • Possibly Gilliam's worst ever

When Terry Gilliam's at his best, he manages to overcome -- though often just barely -- all his really, really bad instincts. This is not Gilliam at his best. It may be his worst film ever. Yes yes, some of the sets and graphics are lovely. He always manages to give you some of that. But there's no story here, it's very close to dramatically flatline, many scenes are so murky and dark you can't see what's (not) going on, the pacing is glacial, even the sound is mixed abysmally. And as so often in his movies, the acting is mostly awful, because Gilliam to this day doesn't seem to know how to direct actors. He really directs sets and graphics, and seems to hope the actors will make do. Sometimes they triumph over his terrible directing, as in Brazil and of course Holy Grail, but it's not like the Pythons needed directing. And as even with most of his better films, this is much longer than it needed to be and much slower than it should be. I could not WAIT to leave the theater (was there with a date, and couldn't). Clearly a lot of the five star ratings here are really Heath Ledger sympathy votes. This is bad, boring, confused, shapeless, downright dysfunctional filmmaking.
