Philip Seymour Hoffman was a brilliant actor. His untimely death, a tragedy. His portrayal of Capote was uncanny. Catherine Keener was excellent.

Is Apple looking to make a profit on a tragedy? I hope that they are planning to donate the profits.

I haven't seen this movie in a couple of years & after hearing that Philip Seymour Hoffman had died today, I looked at my collection of his movies and chose to watch Capote. Truman Capote was 5'3, PSH was 5'10 but watching that movie you would never know there was that much of a size difference. He doesn't try to imitate Truman Capote, Philip Seymour Hoffman becomes Capote, he was truly one of, if not the best character actors of his/my generation. Dan Futterman's script is so well written & Bennett Miller's direction makes all of the performances shine & the film moves seamlessly. I won't get into the storyline for anyone who hasn't seen it, but it's worth every minute of the 1h 55m running time.

Chalk it up to Hollywood politics that Capote and Hoffman received all the accolades and awards, but Infamous is a much better movie. Toby Jones really nails the role and the movie and does a much better job of developing the characters and the relationship between Capote and Smith. Capote is good, yes, but if the story interests you, see Infamous first.
  • Amazing.

After reading the incredible book, I decided to watch this film. And if you read the book, this movie seems more real than it really is. That is the beautiful part of this movie. PHS gives an amazing preformance that people would kill to be able to duplicate. But no one can. Watch, and be amazed! It's worth it!
  • flawless acting. i agree it is among the best films of the past few years.

great perfectionistic piece of movie making artistry. intelligent, captivating and didactic. still feels like something is missing from the story. i think the acting upstages the script. but it is hard to justify any criticism at all of this brilliant movie.

biographical portion of capote's life during the early 1060's ... acting is off the charts, the story line -though true- keeps u completely entangled. really remarkable time for author's in hollywood.
  • PHS's breathtaking performance.

It's amazing how this guy gets into the character, it's as if he doesn't judge or hesitate when acting any character. I'd do anything to see his point of view when he's acting, or what he's thinking/practicing when doing a character. I'm only 18 years old, I'm so fasinated by this movie. It's ridiculous when kids my age are into this Miley girl, Britney music, & teen movies which has no point value. I wish they could all take some things seriously & start watching these kinds of films.
