I’m writing this because this film needs more one-star reviews. The plot is laughable. The action is laughable. Even the cinematography is laughable. This film to the series what Volkswagen bugs are to Porsche 911. Life is too short to watch this film once let alone twice.

What a snore fest. It is supposed to be an action movie, but everyone is filmed walking in slow motion. There is a scene at the race track, and the horses are shot in slow motion. The movie fails at the beginning, with Warner Bros. Bugs Bunny physics where Tom Cruise hurls himself off a cliff to get to a niche in another cliff, and he stops his body with one hand. At least in Die Hard, there was some suspense because the character could bleed and get hurt. Here, reality is out the window and that would be ok, if everything was not shot in slow motion.
  • The worst (but not really) of the "M:I" movies.

I know the title says so, but the movie actually isn't terrible. Heck, it's not even bad! It's just the weakest of the movies. Weak acting, weak story, weak effects... however, it is very action-packed, and will very much keep you awake, and Tom Cruise does so many amazing stunts!

Amazing how bad this movie is compared to how good they got. Without a doubt the worst of all the Mission Impossible movies. Watch 1, 3, 4, 5, and on but skip this trash. Even if it’s free.
  • John Woo on an epic scale

If you don’t appreciate Woo’s Hong Kong “Heroic Bloodshed” aesthetic then you probably won’t “get” M:I2. John Woo is one of the most influential action directors of all time and pulled off some incredibly ambitious action set pieces married to over the top melodrama featuring bravery, loyalty and brotherhood. Here he isn’t limited by budget and he makes use of Hollywood sized resources for insane chase scenes, double hand gun gunfights (a Hong Kong trademark) and a knock down grudge match fight scene among the crashing waves of the Australian beach. But he also doesn’t pull any punches with the stylized editing, camerawork and melodramatic entrances complete with slow motion doves flapping across the screen. If hyper reality bullet ballets aren’t your thing you might want to try one of the other very fine Mission Impossible films, but if you have an appreciation for action films as an art form then M:I2 comes highly recommended.

Mission Impossible 2 isn't bad like critics say. It's a good movie even if there are some plot holes and too much action sequences which I enjoy. It's a good sequel to the first installment and is worth watching. 7.1/10
