Description

Meg Ryan and Matthew Broderick star in this romantic comedy about two jilted lovers who meet while spying on their respective ex's who have moved in together. Cynical photographer Ryan convinces lovesick astronomer Broderick that he can win back his childhood sweetheart (Kelly Preston) by humiliating her ex-fiance (Tcheky Karyo). Their plan goes awry as the relationships between all four evolve in ways none of them could ever have imagined. Starring Golden Globe-nominee Ryan ("Proof of Life," "You've Got Mail"), Tony-winner and Emmy-nominee Broderick (Broadway's "The Producers," "Election"), Kelly Preston ("For Love of the Game," "Jack Frost"), international star Tcheky Karyo ("Kiss of the Dragon," "The Patriot") and Oscar, Tony, and Emmy-winner Maureen Stapleton ("Miss Rose White," "Nuts"). Directed by Oscar-nominated director/producer/actor Griffin Dunne ("Practical Magic," "Joe's Apartment").

I can't believe I-tunes has this movie on here and not French KIss. French Kiss is one of the all time best movies! This movie hurt me to watch it. We call it - the stalker movie. Please, please, please add French Kiss to your library - I would buy it in a heart beat.

This is the sort of story you might easily imagine Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn having filmed in their prime. The premise is interesting and it's a pleasure to see Broderick and Ryan together because their comedic timing is spot on. The quality of the script is up there with "The Awful Truth," "The Lady Eve" and "Sullivan's Travel's" in fact, this strikes me as the sort of film Preston Sturges (the director of the last two films I mentioned) would have directed. If it was offered for sale as well as a rental I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
