Description

This is an alternate theatrical version of the film with a controversial ending! Somehow immune to an unstoppable, incurable virus, military virologist Robert Neville (Smith) is now the last human survivor in New York City and maybe the world. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague lurk in the shadows... watching Neville's every move... waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find an antidote using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered... and quickly running out of time.

This version is much better than the original. It was nice to get a more human feel to a zombie type movie. You see that while they are infected they haven’t entirely lost their human emotions and just do what they have to to survive. Just a different perspective from doom and gloom was nice.
  • Is this our COVID-19 story?

Great movie. An emotional roller coaster too. A lot of similarities here with our global situation with COVID-19 and wouldn’t be surprised if Life imitates Art.
  • Follows the book, I guess

But I still like the 1970 version better, with Charlton Heston. I was excited at the idea of a remake but it’s really not. The same premise but really a different story. Yeah, I still prefer “The Omega Man”.

If this was the real ending To I Am Legend then they would have made a Sequel.

I will buy when you combine this with the theatrical version and add ALL extras from the Blu-Ray. GREAT movie but 1 star because I'm not paying extra just for the alt ending.
  • Good film, nothing like the book at all

I liked this movie because I read the book and I knew not to expect anything to be the same but the main character’s name, the death of his family, the fact he has a dog (albeit much more briefly in the book) and the creatures. The regular ending/alternate ending is irrelevant. There are, generally, very few similarities between the movie and the book so I wish people would stop pretending they read the book when clearly they didn’t. The idea behind the book is that Robert Neville is ultimately the legendary bad guy because he’s the only one left of his kind and he’s been murdering those that have “evolved” in their sleep, hence the title “I Am Legend”. He’s the boogey man. Neither ending speaks to that. Anyway, I liked this movie. Will Smith is good, the creatures are scary, it’s suspenseful and at times thrilling. It could never reach the emotional depth of the book because that’s not why they made the movie but as it’s own piece it’s a pretty good creature feature.

The CGI was not very well done, The story is what saved this movie"I am legend" Hollywood has to start getting good scripts and not rely so much on CGI. People are getting used to CGI, now people are more interested in the stories. If you like sci-fi movie genre with a good script and/or story try remaking Robinson Crusoe on Mars.
  • Everything was well done but the casting.

All the effects, the scenery, the story, the dialog were well done. However, it is extremely difficult believing Will Smith as a scientist. I just do not picture him in a college biochemistry class. The movie was never the less very exciting. Though it left the question, "what good is a vaccine if one population is already immune and the other population remains disfigured and mentally the same even after the virus has been eliminated from their bodies?" A vaccine is only good as a preventative.

Although the film does capture your attention, the film lacks the appropriate action that it did promise, it had a fight scene here or there but that was it. It's backstory to when the infection arised was pretty captivating, given the insight on how humanity would act on its death bed is always captivating. It moreover showed how life was after the cataclysmic effect of a virus on life here on Earth.
