I absolutely adore this movie! Newman is incredible, as usual, and as a first time Woodward viewer, I was immediately struck by how she embodies Clara Varner, making her cold and human simultaneously. I also like Wells, even though he's a bit melodramatic. The plot is similar to Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, but if you love the classics it's a must see for sure.

Paul Newman is cool by any standard in any era and this movie is one of the reasons why. Producing some of his most memorable quotes, the movie boasts incredible chemistry bewteen Newman's character and those of Joanne Woodward and Orson Welles. A solid five stars, this movie is recommended to anyone who wants to be immersed wholely in a super plot.

The interactions between Orson Welles and Paul Newman are the reason to see this movie. I thought Welles did a great job as the loveable antagonist, and the best chemistry in the movie is between those two. All performances are excellent though, and this movie is as intense but much more uplifting that most of Faulkner and Williams' works. I rented it because Paul Newman passed, and it was fun to watch him in this.
