the movie was sooo boring, with little sex scenes here and there. waste of time and money- even for 99 cents.

Only one word can describe this movie... Boring! And on top of that, it is poorly acted.

I have mix feelings about this movie. The story line jumped around a bit never quite making the connection, especially when Florence's girlfried entered the scene in Las Vegas. It was a bit over the top at times.

Molly Parker did an o.k. job but the male actor is so bad it was difficult to watch. The "acclaimed director" forgot to clean the lens in many scenes and there is dirt and water spots on the camera in several shots. Its hard to believe how bad the production and quality of filming is. I have watched porn with higher production standards. The story line is pretty stupid. The motive for the making of this movie probably had more to do with trying to get a few free nights in Vegas by some D-list hollywood hacks than any artistic motive.

I liked this movie. You could really see the longing in Peter Saarsgard's eyes. Hiring a hooker for a "no sex" weekend is the epitome of foreplay.

plot was absolutely terrible and had no substance to it, and a certain scene could have been excluded. all in all a complete waste.

So what do you do when you are a fiercely independent bit of eye candy who has marginalized her sexulaity because it's a part of yourself that you use to make a living; then you meet a man who brings the whole conventional can provide and care-giving thing; but you no longer know exactly how to process that? See, in my view it isn't the male character who is all short circuited and emotionally inept. It's her. Peter S. is wonderfully unguarded and with eerie candor reveals the stark wholesome needy sexuality of the average male. It's that secret side that women/girl/people are oft times not ready for because raw doesn't always translate to us as intimacy when that's only the half of it for men. And the way they (Peter S and Molly P) are so comfortable being uncomfortable together is nothing short of amazing. In fact if you look at it with the urbane eye this little piece of heaven by way of hell is shot with, the very fact of them sticking it out and working with it is downright romantic. Note I say working with, not working through. What is explicit here is exactly what needs to be explicit. I can like explicit a lot and I do in 'the Center of the World.' To me it takes the crime out of blurring the line between love and sex, and I appreciate that message.

Awful dreadful film. Characters not likeable and not at all interesting. Cold and emotionless. Tawdry and leans towards a B-rated porn film. Tedious. Difficult to watch. Don't let the photo lure you in. A waste of your money!

If you've read the iTunes plot summary, you won't find many surprises in this film, though I thought the reviewer exaggerated the role of Jerri somewhat. Jerri's part of the story is fleeting, and highlights some facets of Richard and Florence that might have been difficult to reveal otherwise. How does Richard treat a stranger in need? How does Florence treat her friends? How Richard and Florence treat each other, and change each other, is the heart of this film. Both characters are sad in their own ways, Richard with his unrequited love and Florence with her conflicted need for money. They grow just close enough that a genuine relationship seems possible, but is that spark enough? Molly Parker does a wonderful job playing Florence, bringing complexity and humanity to the role. Peter Sarsgaard also succeeds in pulling off Richard, a character we're clearly supposed to find some sympathy for despite some serious personality flaws. This film is unrated but contains sexual themes throughout, including some mild nudity and one extremely brief but disposable scene with a lollipop. Adult fare, to be sure, but "9 Songs" it isn't: the characters and story here are more interesting, and the visuals are far less explicit.
