Description

An idyllic family vacation turns into a living nightmare for parents Paul (Thomas Jane) and Wendy (Anne Heche) when their young daughter disappears without a trace. When the local sheriff (Jason Patric) fails to chase down any new leads, the frantic parents have no choice but to take matters into their own hands. As tensions mount and the list of suspects grows, the search for the truth leads to a shocking revelation where nothing is what it seems in this gripping psychological thriller.

I've read a lot of mostly negative reviews prior to writing this, many of which are unfortunately justified. To start on a positive note I actually thought the plot concept was actually quite interesting. The lead up to the twist at the end I felt needed more effort and development throughout the story but the acting wasn't quite on par. In the end I felt it was actually substandard stuff mostly attributed to awkward character development, obvious plot holes, poor acting performances and inconsistencies in the narrative. Not the best & not the worst hence why I gave it 3 stars. (A tad too generous I guess)

The starring cast is too good for this. All 3 can deliver top-notch performances, but this movie is an exception to that rule. I'm not sure they could have done anything with such a terribly written story anyway, which probably explains why the acting feels forced. If I had to guess, I'd say the director left during the first day of shooting and came back on the last to wrap it. The hardest job had to fall to the poor editor. It must have taken just as long to hack it up and piece it back together as it did to shoot it. I gave it a fair shot. I took in maybe 30-35 minutes and left it to finish binge-watching Mr. Robot...again.

This is so very bad.. please don’t watch. They abuse the dog in the entire movie. Totally fake not remotely realistic. Brings anger to the audience. Very depressive not enjoyable at all. Watch at your own peril. I am sad I spend over $7 on this. My husband was mad at me for renting such a bad movie.

End comes out of nowhere. Plot lines dropped. Nonsensical story flow. Avoid it.

Classic thriller that doesn’t over promise, it’s poised and savvy. Smooth cinematography and gorgeous setting. Miranda played by Aleksei Archer was fabulous and striking. I would def recommend.

If she is in it, as she should be in more... it has brilliance. She is one of our greatest actresses, and she is waaaaay underused. Amazing actrees. Hung. Wow. The Third Miracle. Nip/Tuck Aside from those, she deserves better parts... I do not know her... I just know quality. This is probably not worthy of her, as Hollywood doesn’t seem to value her properly, although no doubt she’s worth watching it just because she’s always worth watching. OK NOW I ACTUALLY WATCHED IT. IT IS CLEAR THE ACTORS ARE IN SOMETHING THEY REGRET THEY SIGNED ON FOR. THE DIRECTOR IS CLUELESS AS TO WHAT HIS MATERIAL IS, THAT BEING SAID, IT HAD POTENTIAL, FIRSTLY IN ITS LEAD ACTORS- HAVE YOU SEEN HUNG? Brilliant stuff. ANYWAY THE VANISHED, NOT TO BE MISTAKEN WITH THE ONE ON ROTTEN TOMATOES THAT HAS GOOD REVIEWS, IS MORE THEN HORRENDOUS. NICE GOING PETE.
