Description

Loosely based on the book Foxfire by Joyce Carol Oates, this film is about four high-school girls, dissimilar in every other way, who find that they are all being made to perform sexually with their biology teacher. This discovery leads them to become allies and friends. Shortly afterward, they exact revenge on their teacher at the cost of being expelled from school. Taking up residence in an abandoned house in the woods, they practice some rather sexy bonding rituals between themselves. Thanks to the efforts of their ringleader, Legs, to get drug rehab money for one of the girls, they find themselves on the wrong side of the law, and the chase begins.

  • Description of movie misleading

I love this movie so much that I feel compelled to steer viewers in the right direction. The description of this movie is completely wrong. This is about empowerment and friendship. Not at all about girls on the lam from the law. The incident described in the summary happens near the end of the movie. The incident that unites the girls to begin with is an attack on a teacher who sexually assaults his female students and they form a little family. Angelina Jolie's character is the ringleader but not a student, just a drifter passing through town. She's the one who convinces the other girls to attack the teacher and she's the best thing about the movie. I'll end there because I don't want to spoil Foxfire for anyone. Just see it and make up your own mind about it.

I saw this movie back in 1999 when it first came out and believe it or not I had no idea who Angelina Jolie was, but I loved her in this character she plays. I've been waiting for this movie to come out on iTunes for years now and I'm so happy that it finally came out. It's just a coming-of-age story of these young girls, who have some rough upbringing. It's not some deep movie so just enjoy it as what it is and that's just a coming-of-age movie with these young girls/women going through some tough times and growing up in some not so ideal situations. One of Angelina Jolie's earlier good rolls before she became famous.
