I thought it was OK - not great, but also not bad. Could easily be a movie-of-the-week for some TV channel, like Hallmark, for example. "Drug is bad, folks!"

There is really nothing that can be said about this movie, except the performances are unbelievably good - Julia Roberts does not even stand out among them. The power of a mother's love. The even more powerful attraction of chemical substance. The emotional wreckage of a family history that led them all to this precipice. What an amazing, honest, punch in the face of a story about this substance that is sucking the life out of our kids. Can not recommend it highly enough. Not a date movie, no doubt. But, oh man, does it make you think.

only someone of Julia Robert's and Lucas Hedge's talent and, more likely, in the case of excellent actors, raw intelligence, could something so.....important-and-real-and cruel, .... make US feel and grasp, --- effectively and immeninantly---, the importantance and realness and cruelty of OPIODS. Thank you.

Their scoring clearly doesn't mean anything anymore.

Terrific performances by all of the leads - BUT, with a story that is SO relevant right now ... it just absolutely did not make a huge impact. I wanted this message thrown OUT there via this film. Everybody was playing their part/role in a script that needed just a little something more. So actually 3.5 stars almost 4. And thank you for addressing this issue. Most folks want to ignore it.

One of the best, well acted movies I’ve seen about the damage drug addiction does to the addict, his family, and all that he comes in contact with.
