Description

In the tradition of Amblin classics where fantastical events occur in the most unexpected places, Jack Black and two-time Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett star in The House with a Clock in Its Walls. The magical adventure tells the spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis (Owen Vaccaro), who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart. But his new town's sleepy façade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches. Based on the beloved children's classic book.

The House with a clock in it's walls was a huge disappointment to me not because it wasn't similar to the novel because it was trying to be the new Harry Potter franchise starter see! with a film trying to get a franchise it ulimatelty fails same thing goes with DC who are copying Marvel expect Marvel has movies that makes sense and connect with each other. Clock in it's walls had good storytelling and descent performence but lacks the similar feel to other fantasy films including Harry Potter but Jack Black was good.

The movie showed so much crap just because they could. Any kid friendly plot was just an afterthought for this creepy weird movie that was not what I expected from a Jack Black and Cate Blanchette movie. My 8 yrs. old and 10 yrs. old brothers didn’t finish the thing.

I saw this movie with my friends in the theatre when it first came out. All of us were shocked that it was PG. Great movie, but between the necromantic theme, and the devil that drinks blood, it is definitely not suited for younger kids. Jack Black and Cate Blanchette are stellar and the CGI was incredible. Just would not recommend for anyone younger that 12
  • A second rate mess, very forgetable

This is not a story well-told. It is very obvious that the director did not approach this with an awareness of his audience. He was a fan of the book for many years and as such was so into it that he forgot that very few people had ever heard of it. As a result, he did not do a good job of romancing his audience. For example, the kid goes from knowing nothing to performing magic off the cuff in a matter of a minute of running time. Much of the rest of it seemed to be thrown together. Within twenty minutes I completely lost interest. I persevered anyway (not "anyways") and made it to the end. This is a very forgettable film. Even at iTunes' dirt cheap price of $7.99, it was a waste of money.

While some parts could be strange, the overall film was very enjoyable. The three best parts of the movie are the story, the magic use, and The acting. Jack Black and Cate Blanchett have great chemistry and their acting is phenomenal. I would definitely recommend and will watch again
