Description

After the death of his father King George V (Michael Gambon of HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE) and the scandalous abdication of King Edward VIII (Guy Pearce of MEMENTO), Bertie (Academy-Award®-winner Colin Firth) who has suffered from a debilitating speech impediment all his life, is suddenly crowned King George VI of England. With his country on the brink of war and in desperate need of a leader, his wife, Elizabeth (Golden-Globe®-nominee Helena Bonham Carter), the future Queen Mother, arranges for her husband to see an eccentric speech therapist, Lionel Logue (Academy-Award®-winner Geoffrey Rush). After a rough start, the two delve into an unorthodox course of treatment and eventually form an unbreakable bond. With the support of Logue, his family, his government and Winston Churchill (Timothy Spall of SWEENEY TODD), the King will overcome his stammer and deliver a radio-address that inspires his people and unites them in battle. Winner of four Oscars® including "Best Picture" and "Best Actor," The King's Speech is based on the true story of King George VI's quest to find his voice.

I was NOT able to play the movie I purchased. The movie I bought and use [mirroring] and the such to play the movie for my family, absolutely devastated. Had to huddle around a small screen, thankfully we could all of us still did still manage to watch it. I felt so terrible about it.. why is it this way? Id understand a computer or something of the like but.. a tv?

This is a really good movie with a sentimental look at Queen Elizabeth’s father. Funny in spots and dramatic in others. Wonderfully done film.

Pick your adjective... excellent, magnificent, wonderful, marvellous, brilliant, supreme, consummate, outstanding, dazzling, remarkable, fine, choice, sterling, first-rate, first-class, of the first water, of the first order, of the highest order, premier, prime, transcendent, pre-eminent, etc... A wonderful human story that happens to be true. Splendid cast, through and through. Helena Bonham Carter reveals why 'The Queen Mum' was so beloved. I just love this movie!

I’ve heard so much about this movie and have been told that it is beautifully done. I enjoy watching this type of drama movies not only that are based on true events but also that tells a story of the history of Kings and the royal family. I would highly recommend this movie.
