Description

When 79-year-old curmudgeon RAYMOND (Frank Langella) makes arrangements to be euthanized in Oregon, his family refuses to accept his decision. But when another family emergency arises, Raymond's daughter KATE (Christina Applegate) turns to her husband BRIAN (Billy Crudup) for a little help. So Brian reluctantly volunteers to drive the cantankerous Raymond and his wine-loving wife ESTELLE (Mary Kay Place) three-thousand miles to Oregon. Determined to change the old man's mind before they reach the Beaver State, it becomes quickly apparent to Brian that convincing your father-in-law to keep living when he's ready to check out is no simple task.

I'm a weepy, moved - an absolutely affected mess of human emotion. What a beautiful film. All of it. The writing. The performances. The editing. The direction. I can't remember the last time I wept like this - moved - by a film. Seriously. Maybe because it hits so close to home. Maybe because it's just that perfect. So very grateful to be so moved. Full of hope & love & feeling. Thank you.

This movie is a comedy about a very serious subject. It's a what would you do film about real life choices and relationtionships. The acting is amazing, especially Billy Crudup. I laughed out loud many times. I also cried. If you have every dealt with in-laws, teenagers, aging parents, marriage, siblings and family, and letting go on so many different levels-you will be able to relate. Loved it!

This movie is NOT a Comedy.. it is unfair to market this as a comedy when it's really a dark and depressing drama about a man who really wants to die. Don't be fooled by the trailer.

Maybe not as good a little miss sunshine but not far off and the subject matter asks interesting and deep questions while remaining fun and funny to watch often. A very good film with great performances by a cast that is great!

Loved this fun and quirky road trip adventure. I was surprised to see such big names in an indie film like this but it actually works extremely well. It's a topic that's rarely explored in films, so it was defintely refreshing to see something NEW.
