Description

Basketball Wives returns for a fifth season with plenty of personal drama to share, beginning with Evelyn Lozada’s first steps toward dealing with the media firestorm surrounding the altercation with her husband that threatens to end their marriage. Back with their own passions and problems are Tami Roman, Suzie Ketcham, and executive producer Shaunie O’Neal. New to the scene is Evelyn’s friend Tasha Marbury, whose marriage of 17 years to a prominent player has had its share of scandal, the lingering whispers of which make her entry into the group a controversial, pot-stirring delight for viewers. Other surprises in store for the fifth outing include the return of a controversial wife from seasons past, a confrontation with a woman whose purported relationship with a player puts one of the wives in an awkward position, and yet another girls’ trip to remember as two of the ladies take their simmering feud abroad.

This show is snoozeville, USA. These people are not funny or interesting; the one thing that made this show last as long as it did was the conflicts. This season is completely watered down and have characters that are trying to hard to play the educated black woman role (which they clearly are not). As additional note (to post#3&4) I don't understand why pay so much attention to a show you clearly don't like. Im sure there isn't college credits going toward this failed boycott, and you're not getting paid. I don't believe in censorship nor do I agree with people that are not demo'ed for a particular tv show deciding its programming. Like when Christians boycotted RuPaul's Drag Race, or when old white women boycotted Teen Mom, or when Star Jones led the charge against this show; THERE SHOULD BE PROGRAMMING FOR EVERYONE TO ENJOY! If you don't like it, switch to another channel because there are so many options for tv shows. You can even chose to read a book (which I know people don't want to do anymore). But the YOU have no right to decide what the next person should to watch. Especially considering the fact that Tami, Evelyn, and Shaunie represent the lives of a subset of the population. There's no degradation to the image of American minority because it shows the other end of the spectrum that is hidden for the sake of presenting a polished image. You can't show the Huxtables without showing the Paynes.

Basically poster number two said it all. However I am out of the country right now and can't see real television so I admit I ordered at least the first episode, will the whole season get my money? I will see...but truly aside from my special circumstance are any of these women still relevant? I mean Draya made all of them be forgotten. No one cares about Evelyn anymore, nor Tammy.

Reality TV shouldn't be touted for it's inspirational stars, I know, but this show takes the cake when it comes to the offensive and vile cast members. The bottom line is that, for seasons, viewers have witnessed the same women (namely, Evelyn, Tami, and Shaunie -- Suzie gets an honorable mention for being a snitch) behave like a mob and bully the cast-mates they didn't like (Gloria, Jennifer, Kesha, even Suzie at one point). Last season, we had enough. We protested, complained, lashed out, and even stopped watching. Instead of reprimanding the villains for their behavior (which included stealing and going through someone's phone and purse, throwing bottles at people, running across tables to hit people, perpetuating ugly and vicious rumors about other women, etc.), the main bully and condoner of bullying, Shaunie O'neal, fired the girls who were treated badly, and were FAVORED by the viewers, and gave her circle of mean girl friends a "promotion" of sorts as the only stars of the show's 5th season. As if getting rid of the victims will make any of these women more likable. The show's 5th season gets only one star from me, because of this obvious abuse of power, and also because this (incredibly boring) season is going to be nothing more than PR fluff and damage control. Evelyn is using her abusive relationship as a tool to garner sympathy from fans (that she doesn't have), Tami Roman is on a campaign to prove that she's changed (by fighting with different people), Shaunie by distancing herself from problem cast members (and proving that she's willing to use her cast members for a quick buck), and Suzie Ketcham… i don't even know. This show ran its course as soon as Tami held Kesha Nichol's purse hostage in a hotel room that VH1 paid for… Oh, and there's also a new girl… who cares.
