Description

The universe is almost impossible to comprehend - 13.7 billion years old, 93 billion light years across and filled with over 100 billion galaxies, each containing hundreds of billions of stars. This series explains the vast phenomena of deep space by re-examining the familiar on Earth. Taking science away from telescopes and labs, Universal travels into the natural world and across the planet. These journeys are combined with spectacular images of space. Using stunning high definition CGI, this program offers views of giant supernova, gamma ray bursts and recently discovered galaxies, and sheds light on the furthest reaches of the universe, just moments after its creation.

Following Carl Sagan’s “Cosmos”, The Wonders series together by Brian Cox is my favorite Science/philosophical show ever. His pace and tone allow you time to consider what has just been said. After Cox makes a particularly grand statement he always gazes into the camera as if to say “think about it!” This series is not so much about teaching the basics and trying to turn you into a scientist as it is attempting to convey Brian’s sense of wonder and enthusiasm so that you will WANT to pursue this knowledge deeper. It is truly inspirational. I love everything Brian Cox has done. Also, he and I share a hero in Sagan. Throughout the series there are several subtle tributes to Carl Sagan which I very much appreciate.

Like Nova, these episodes are heavy on drama and poetry and light on substance and fact. Photography is gorgeous. Pronunciation of cosmos and glacier gets annoying after awhile - sorry for this last comment, but...

This is probably one of the greatest Science Series since "Cosmos" and "The Day the Universe Changed." I have recorded this over and over again when it's been replayed on the Science Channel. So excited to own this series to watch on my iPhone. Every time I see it I learn something new, catch something I missed or appreciated the wonders of our world and cosmos more.

It is the closest thing to perfect I've ever seen in a science program. Prof. Cox is a gifted narrator. Never condescending, never boring. And the production quality is fantastic.

Brian Cox is amazing at giving you background on what he is about to explain. You don't get lost or overwhelmed by the information, and the imagery is so beautiful. This is by far the best Universe show I have ever watched, totally brilliant. It says season 1, where is season 2?

Brian's description of the universe is simply amazing and is told through beautiful HD CG images and video. His excellent descriptions of the universe are breathtaking, interesting, and engaging. If your interested in finding a series about our cosmos, how we were made, and the fundamental laws behind it all, the search stops here. Get it and prepare to be amazed :)
