  • Difficult to watch

I found Season 5 really difficult to watch perhaps because there is no more Olitz or Olivia the fixer. It is just a show.

What I like about this show is that we always see incredible performance from each member of the cast, but most importantly from Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope. In each season we've seen her character evolve, but on this particular season at some point the plot became a bit unclear, YES it was about Olivia against her father and trying to save Jake, but is Jake really that important in the show? I thought that the love of Olivia's life was Fitz, apparently now we get an insecure Olivia of who she really loves. On season 5 I felt that they wanted to create a relationship for every character on the show. I would like to see on Season 6 new plots, new characters that really bring something important and different to the show, I don't want anymore of the "COMMAND" plot and B613 plot. We've had great 4 seasons at some point I felt that season 5 was lost and was the least that I liked from the 5 seasons.

The first 3 seasons were great and I could not get enough. Then they started season 4 and this is when the show took a downward spiral. For me it went from a 5 star to a 1 to 2 star show. Instead of doing what worked it seems like they are out of ideas and I feel like I am watching the news with all the re hashed correct events in here.

I loved season 1 & 2 of Scandal. Season 3-5 is where the lack is. I was looking forward to seeing huge changes the show would bring this season, but right after watching the recent episode of Scandal this week. I just lost interest. CONS: 1. Papa Pope is out. (What's the point of the season 4 finale in putting him away if the writers chose to bring him out again) 2. The affair between Olivia and Fitz is out. (Didn't we deal with this in Season 3. What happened in the past should stay in the past.) 3. Olivia is not season 1-2 Olivia. (Olivia has been making a lot of wrong decisions lately. What happened to her gut that she said was always right? Plus she can't seem to get her mind right. First, she says she wants to marry Fitz and live in Vermont with him. When the time came for him to ask her to marry him, Liv denies. WTH) 4. Lack of Liv fixing her clients. (This season has been a lot of Olivia and Fitz and it should be Liv doin her thing at OPA and Fitz doing his job as President) The writers of Scandal...please bring the ORIGINAL Scandal back.

But the story changes about as often as the wrinkled brow of the always over worried (despite the supposed character) of Olivia Pope. So over it.

This season has been pretty good so far--more similar to S1 & S2. And it isn't the same ole, same ole as folk are trying to say of S5 because in the past, *spoiler* THEY NEVER ADMITTED THE AFFAIR. Not only did they not admit it, they usually found some other person to successfully pin it on. It is all out in the open and I have always wonder how would I write the actually reveal. I might have written it differently, but I've got no major complaints about their direction thus far. I was disappointed that the clandestine b613 mess and Jake would still be a backstory, but it hasn't consumed too much White House drama yet. If that mess gets too much screen time as it did last year and in S3 I will get uninterested again. Last night's episode was good, addressed how I felt his party would really handle him being with a pretty black girl as it has rarely ever come up--and Mr. Goldwyn reacted to the hint of racism as any non-racist white male would react--TOTALLY SHOCKED AND CONFUSED THAT FOLK STILL HAVE SKIN COLOR PREJUDICE. Again, give the show a chance--and on S3, give it a break because IMO Shonda did the best she could with that season, as Kerry was dealing with a very difficult pregnancy and the entire show had to be redirected momentarily. It is evident that this show is indeed a "limited series", and it is gearing up for this or next season to be the end and they are heading in a good direction towards a solid wrap up.
