Description

All his life, Dan Landsman (Jack Black) has never been the cool guy. He hopes to change everything by befriending former high school hero Oliver Lawless (James Marsden) and convincing him to show up at their class reunion. However, Dan’s plan hilariously backfires as the unpredictable Oliver proceeds to take over his home, career, and entire life. Brought to you by the comedic geniuses behind Nacho Libre and Wayne’s World, and co-starring Kathryn Hahn and Jeffrey Tambor, The D Train is the ultimate bromance gone wrong.

A comedy without humor. I guess after a very few successes now it's time to see how if we will eat a poo sandwich and convince ourselves it was the best ever. You will hate every character in this. If you think water boarding is torture then this is the apocalypse.

Waste of time, dragged for a long time with no points to be made. A story of a heterosexual man having sex with another heterosexual man.. did not get the point.

Darkly funny. Completely refreshing. Beautifully directed and photographed. Don't be deceived by the "wedding crashers" type poster- it's not that kind of movie.
  • How is this a comedy?

Started to fall asleep about 45 mins in and there was still nothing interesting happening in the movie. Story was weak and so was the acting. I've seen better acting from Jack Black in Beastie Boys videos.

The best/funniest movie I’ve seen in a long time!! Unbelievable!! I’ve watched it 3 times already it’s so good… Pay no mind to the idiots that leave bad reviews. If you don’t find this to be funny, then there is something seriously wrong with you. GREAT!!!!
  • Frickin’ hysterical

This is an incredibly hilarious (and deeply dark) film from Jack Black. There’s an unexpended twist that really shows how far Jack is willing to go in the name of comedy. I think a lot of reviewers here have missed the point entirely.

The film starts out well with Jack Blacks character looking towards the 20 year reunion as a means of redeeming and reinventing himself with long lost peers. He thought he could be somebody if he could get the most popular guy of his class (played by James Marsden) to the reunion. The Marsden character in truth is a struggling actor living in LA whose life peaked in high school. Jack Black cannot see this as he has built him up to god like status in his mind. This is where the film loses direction. Jack Black’s desperation (to be popular and the savior of the reunion) causes him to loose sight of both himself, his job, and his family. The gay sex scene between Black and Marsden could have served as a metaphor for how much Jack Black idolized and in fact was in love with Marsdens character. What could have been a beautiful moment of acceptance and connection between the two and a validation of Jack Black (being someone of value) turned into nothing more than a selfish drunken indulgence and regret. The Marsden character comes off as a free spirit, charismatic good guy until the final scene at the reunion where he selfishly and cruelly rips Jack Black to shreds in front of the whole class (telling him that what happened between them was meaningless). It was a very frustrating conclusion. It seems as though the writers did not fully explore or understand the characters they were creating, they didn’t stay true to the character, and in the end the movie just falls apart. Any life lessons were overshadowed by the shock factor and drama that unfolded post reunion. Any emotional connection or involvement that was developed in the first half of the movie was lost.
