For those unfamiliar with Maori customs and traditions, this movie may seem unorthodox or boring. For the rest of us, this movie is superb and definitely an amazing experience. It boasts traditional weapons, language and beautiful scenery! Traditional warriors with face to face combat beats cliche cinema movie pretty boys anyway

To the post re: eyeballs popping out and tongues sticking out, that's what Maori warriors did to freak out their enemies. This is as close as any movie has gotten to how the Polynesian warriors battled. Fantastic!

I think this is a total gem of a movie. First off, rarely do you find movies about the Maori tribes (or at least I havent in America). Its so very unique, the fighting styles, the glimpse of culture, and the people. This is such a fresh movie and it makes me excited to see more like it. I highly recommend this movie!

The fighting scenes were exaggerated from the eyes balls popping out of the head to sticking their tongues out - Their behavior was like they were on drugs, when clearly they were not.. Glad I only rented it..
