Description

Pump is an inspiring, eye-opening documentary that tells the story of America’s addiction to oil, from its corporate conspiracy beginnings to its current monopoly today, and explains clearly and simply how we can end it – and finally win choice at the pump. Today, oil is our only option of transportation fuel at the pump. Our exclusive use of it has drained our wallets, increased air pollution and sent our sons and daughters to war in faraway lands. Pump shows us how, through the use of a variety of replacement fuels, we will be able to fill up our cars – cheaper, cleaner and American made - and in the process, create more jobs for a stronger, healthier economy. The film features notable experts such as John Hofmeister, former President of Shell Oil US; Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors; Peter Goldmark, former president of the Rockefeller Foundation; and other noteworthy figures who share their passionate views and knowledge. Right now, we have the ability to change our country’s future, but we never knew it. Aren’t we tired of being taken for a ride? Pump is the movie that could change that.

I watched this movie twice. Was very enlightened by how the whole oil scenario in our country came to be. Will be buying as much as possible E85 for my van to reduce our dependence on oil and reduce pollution. I have a hybrid so I get 45 mpg with that as well but it’s still using oil. Will be strongly considering an electric vehicle when gas prices return to normal later this year.
  • Blackfish for the oil companies. MUST SEE!

Wow. I'm glad I came across this documentary. I've watched it a few times now, and every time I pick up on more information about the US's oil dependency, the role of oil in the world, the lies we have been fooled to accept, and where we can go as a country moving forward to solve all these issues that rise out of using oil as a primary fuel. I'm usually hesitant about documentaries that might be potentially dry, especially if I pay for them, but this one was entertaining and informative. FIVE STARTS. A MUST SEE.

This was an amazing experience, even as a well interested person in the future mobility i learned much during this film. It makes me proud to drive my electric car and be a pioneer, also to inspire others to do the same. And in other news, GO TESLA!

The best thing about Pump is that it’s not out to convince me to buy some new, teensy car to help the environment. It understands that I love cars, that Americans in general love their cars. Even my guzzling old ‘Stang that rumbles and roars when I let it off the leash. Thing is, precious little has to change to make a big difference: We can put E85 in the cars we drive now, even if it doesn’t say explicitly it’s FlexFuel. Mutton-chop man shows how easy it is to “flash” a car’s computer to make it accommodate ethanol. Pump shows there’s a world of choices out there, if you’ll only stop thinking your choices run the gamut between 87 and 91 gas. Electric, hydrogen, CNG cars. Anything that keeps more oil in the ground is the right choice.

As a movie it's great - entertaining and informative. But really what's great about this one is that it doesn't just tell us about a problem, it provides us with a real solution. This is something that is really rare in a documentary. And given the huge consequences of oil dependency, it's refreshing to hear that there are real solutions that we can begin to enact today.
