This documentary is a complete joy to watch from beginning to end. The two filmmakers are clearly driven by a real passion and curiosity about Shakespeare and manage to meet and talk to some incredible artists and thinkers. The narrative follows their journey around the world to explore different encounters with Shakespeare, and it’s fun to watch their relationship and their experiences along the way. I love that they give as much weight to the conversations and ideas of artists and practitioners that you’ve never heard of as they do to the more famous actors and directors that they meet. This film is great for anyone with a love of Shakespeare, or even if you just have a passing curiosity about his work; it’s wonderfully entertaining and will keep you thinking for a while after you watch it! Two thumbs up.

Muse of Fire is both a fun and important contribution. Through the adventures of filmmakers Dan Poole & Giles Terera and their interviews with seasoned Shakespeareans viewers learn how to catch the muse. Recommended for those experienced with The Bard as well as newcomers. I also think it would be useful in the classroom with students who think Shakespeare might be too hard or boring.

A wonderful tale documenting two friends' exploration of Shakespeare in modern culture. Riddled with humor, the film balances the quirks and twists of Giles' and Dan's daily travels with the moments of magic and beauty they encountered during their interviews with famous actors and passionate Shakespeare lovers. Capturing the expert and the everyday individual's relationship, (or lack thereof), with the Bard, they leave no stone unturned in their persistent, ocean-crossing search, and the boldness of their journey, paired with their willing grasp of unexpected opportunities, is truly inspiring! I heartily recommend this film. Whether you're a lover of Shakespeare or simply someone who's spent their life wondering what the fuss is about, you can't help but be drawn in.
