Description

40 Miles north of America's southern border, nightfall marks the beginning of a mass migration of men and drugs the likes of which the world has never seen. For the ranchers whose acreage is in the path of this exodus, the horror of finding the dead bodies, raped women, and destroyed property is second only to the feeling of betrayal by a government that is happy to take their money, but not to guard their rights and land. Jim Weatherford has taken horror and betrayal alike in stride, but there are some things a man simply cannot abide, and some lines that must be defended.

This movie has a not-so-subtle message for the clowns in DC - do something about the mess on our southern border. Or we will.
  • A Timely Tale, Told With Skillful Sensitivity

This indie flick far exceeded my expectations. Itโ€™s a tale of a decent and honorable man desperate to save his land and forced to take a stand alone, set against a backdrop of lawless drug cartels and brutal Coyotes who prey on immigrants desperate to reach a better life. Holds a much-needed mirror to our puzzling cultural self-doubt. Memorable, stirring, and very much worth watching. More like this, please!

We're long overdue for a movie that reveals the mess on America's southern border, and The Arroyo delivers. Maines ably personifies the long-suffering everyman who finally pushes back hard against corruption, and Armendariz gives you a villain you'll love to despise.

While set in modern times and as current as today's most important news; The Arroyo has both the superb story quality and feel of a true classic western. If you long for the days when the good guy always tried to do the right thing, regardless of the consequences, this movie is definitely for you.
