Hollis Wallace makes his living driving the streets of Seattle looking for scrap metal, in the hopes of collecting enough to take care of his ailing mother. But Hollis' routine is disrupted when he meets teenager Swan in the basement of an unhinged neighbor. They end up forming a friendship even though the forces in their lives threaten to destroy their new bond completely.
