An absolutely brilliant movie, possibly the best movie I’ve seen so far and certainly my favorite at the moment. As a lover of writing, drama, the beauty of the screen, and romance (as tragic and blind as it ends up being here in this movie), this movie was tragic perfection. Wonderfully acted and beautifully directed with an ending that will tear you to pieces and will remind you that sometimes love stories are far from perfect. I was debating if I should buy this or just rent it and went ahead and bought it, absolutely zero regrets. (Make sure you have tissues as well)

This film feels a little musty, likethe smell in a vintage clothing store. Allen Ginzberg is our protagonist in this Beat generation coming of age tale. In the end, as Jack Keruac pontificates, the writers must be out in the streets, life, where people are living and destroying their lives. Lucien Carr is a bit of a boy who has an obsessed middle aged man traipsing after him. Some might call it stalking, but Lucien keeps him handy for writing him the occasional paper at Columbia. Of course when the stalker (Kammerer) tried to bake jackmKerouac’s cat, I was all for offing that bastard then and there. We only see the climactic murder in a flashback, so it sort of gets lost chronologically. The contextualizing bit about the War was strangely void of emotional impact. In the end, I never understood what the film makers were trying to say. Nevertheless, the cast shines and this isma good film for a dreary afternoon, perhaps when you’ve been snowed in with a bottle of Absinthe for company.

This film reminds me of a friendship I once had it still haunts, me in the mornings and at night as to what that friendship could have been had we both not been so selfish , and had considered putting eachother first, unfortunately this film reminded me all too well what it is to kill your darlings, as luc was no different, except the factor of a murderous apetite, though not all stories can be the same. I both love and hate this film as it brings the cold truth to bare as the blood still runs cold, in the wake of those memories.

The actors are castes wonderfully (Dane Dehaan and Daniel Radcliffe) they play in a dramatic story that twists and turns and has you gasping. This movie has been a joy to view.

Pretty good movie! I wish it would’ve went a bit further. Daniel Radcliffe is such an amazing actor! Far better than his Harry Potter role. Love that he will do anything to please his fans!
