the friendship between the two boys is so heartwarming & funny! The movie follows a boy & his friend as they hide out alone in an apartment for the summer because their mothers are caught up in prostitution & drug arrests. You will laugh, cry & get a better understanding of how hard life can be for some children.

Amazing heart wrenching story of two young boys living in the projects of NYC in the heat of summer without any parental figures around for guidance. If you want to be wow’d, you must watch this movie. Forget "12 Years a Slave", remember "Mister and Pete"!

i rented this because Michelle Obama had recently screened it at the White House and had said she would use it as a guidepost for her a new campaign. it’s an amazing movie, with a timely message and some great acting.

This movie made me laugh, cry and actually think! It is just wonderful and can be seen by anyone alone, with their friends or kids. It is not really R just has a little bad language but it will inspire everyone in different ways. WOW
