Mischief Night is, in a word, unique. It is a throw back to the best of old horror films but with an entirely modern bent. That's what makes Mischief Night entirely unique. Their is nothing else quite like it - and that is a very good thing and why it just might become a cult classic. A movie that has lasting appeal and grows in popularity and fan base with time.
While the entire ensemble cast in this movie is very good it's greatest strength is in the lead character, Emily (Noell Coet). Emily is a blind yet engaging character. She is smart, sassy, entirely likable and appropriately fearful. Yet, Emily is also courageous as she works through her justifiable fear and predicament.
The way Noell portrays the blind Emily and brings all aspects of her character together is likewise
unique. It is truly a superb acting performance of such a high professional quality that it simply cannot go unnoticed. Expect Noell Coet to join Hollywood's "A list" and become a household name in the very near future. See this movie and you will fully understand why such acting accolades for Noell Coet is entirely justified and deserved.
If you like horror and enjoy suspense that is not overdone but is still thrilling in exactly the right spots then this movie is for you.
OVERALL MOVING RATING = B+
DIRECTING/WRITING = B+
MUSIC/SOUND EFFECTS = B
ENSEMBLE CAST = B+
LEAD CHARACTER (NOELL COET) = A

So even though the storyline is fairly common, with the whole intruder playing games and emotionally torturing someone like The Strangers film, it was very entertaining. The main killer guy is creepy enough to keep your interest and whoever played him did a great job of making his movements and mannerisms scary enough to keep you wondering what he was going to do next. The lead actress was a bit aggravating at times but she did a decent job of getting the point across. Overall there are a few decent scares and it's definitely worth the rental price. Good solid thriller/horror film. Give this one a shot. Enjoy!

i will admit i was sadly dissapointed in this movie i really was waiting for it to come out was very excited then i saw it. good story but i think they could have made it stronger and i would have picked a different actress she seemed really cheesy to me.

I have to admit, I loved this movie. So, yes... there were some cliche'd moments along with some head-scratching behavior from the characters, it was a just a fun movie that was light on gore (although, there were a few moments) and a lot of suspense. I just got caught up in it despite the fact I kinda knew where this thing was going and went along for the ride. I was just surprised how much it was a nod to Carpenter's Halloween (which is also light on gore and moments of inexplicable behavior). Totally worth the rent and a great Halloween film.
