Description

Errol Flynn stars in this classic swashbuckling high seas pirate adventure as The Sea Hawk. 1580s. Elizabeth I, queen of the upstart island nation of England, commissions buccaneer captain Geoffrey Thorpe (Flynn) to harass the Spanish Armada. At a time when Spain dominates Europe, has conquered most of the Americas and is building the greatest naval fleet the world has ever seen, the fate of the tiny nation depends on daring men such as Thorpe and his mission to halt Spain's global trade. But no one plans on captain Thorpe falling for his hostage, doña Maria (Brenda Marshall), as the love between a pirate and a Spanish lady changes the future of England and the world.

  • A great movie - a wonderful escape

I have been hoping to see The Sea Hawk on ITunes for years. An excellent movie - the kind of pure escape so often needed. The film's soundtrack alone is worth the rental price but the movie looks to be cleaned-up a good deal as well (still B&W - not colorized - which is even better). Rotten Tomatoes and others have it right - this is a 100% great movie
  • Errol Flynn At His Best!

This movie is, in some ways, even better than The Adventures Of Robin Hood (1938). A rousing (and often moving) Korngold score permeates every moment of this great tale. There are enough sword fights, sea battles, duels to the death and moments of romance and pathos to satisfy even the most demanding swashbuckler fan. Flynn obviously trained hard for this picture and his fencing style has matured so much since he first efforts in Captain Blood!
  • A true classic! Errol Flynn is amazing.
