Description

Jack (Rob Corddry) and Vanessa (Leslie Bibb) are an expectant couple that moves into the most haunted fixer-upper in New Orleans -- a house with a deadly demonic curse. Things soon spiral out of control for Jack and Vanessa, as well as their-not-so-helpful neighbor F'Resnel (Keegan-Michael Key), Vanessa's friendly psychiatrist (Michael Ian Black), Vanessa's Wiccan sister Marjorie (Riki Lindhome) and the detectives assigned to look into the rising body count (Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer). Only the Vatican's elite exorcism team (Garant and Lennon) can save them -- or can they? Hell Baby - the funniest horror movie you will ever see.

I got a few laughs in the beginning but I expected it to be funnier than what it was. I didn't like it.

I've seen much worse go to the big screen, this movie has its flaws as does every movie. But knowing the creators of Reno911 are behind this and involved in this movie, make it worth the watch. Laughs are had, not as many as I thought, but still worth a watch/purchase. Price is right.

I'll admit one or two gags earned a solid laugh. That's about it. Could have been so much better.
  • Hilarious, with some startles and some silly scares

Hell Baby is so much fun! Equal parts startling and scary, and most importantly, hilarious. The cast has a great comedy pedigree. The film's plot is a horror trope playground for these skilled performers to launch comedic bits and play the increasingly scary events straight, to great effect. Every scene evolves into a series of laugh-out-loud funny moments and punch lines. Most conducive to all of this is the fact that the humor is allowed to adequately breathe, heighten, and deliver; its deliberate structure reaping the benefits of the performers' comedic skills and timing.

So I really like rob Cordry and he certainly is given the stage at times to do his thing and honestly there were several laugh at loud moments. It's not an amazingly clever horror/comedy but definitely worth watching if not for the rob Cordry moments alone. Rent before buying.

  • Fantastic new Horror Spoof

I was searching through new releases and found the trailer for Hell Baby. As soon as I saw a few jokes and the pedigree (Lennon/Garant) I knew it was worth a rental. The film was even better than I expected. Unlike so many of the modern "spoof" movies, Hell Baby incorporates familiar horror concepts while weaving a completely original story. I thought Keegan Michael Kay did a fantastic job in his supporting role and Leslie Bibb was also terrific. There are a ton of comics you'll recognize and if you like The State, or Reno 911, or stupidly smart comedies then you'll be happy. Oh, there's long takes of full frontal nudity - does that help? Buy this, watch this, enjoy this. If you know the filmmakers and actors involved then you already know everything you need to know - it's as good as you'd hope.
  • Truly fantastic comedy-horror!

Loved this one. I'd call it 30% horror, 70% comedy. All brilliant. The smoking priests... The tiny printer... The po boys. The last scene is amazing.
