The Kitchen

The Kitchen is one of my favorite films from 2012. The plot is simple, we are at Jennifer's (Laura Prepon) 30th birthday party where the audiences point of view is only limited to the kitchen. With an astute script, intriguing characters and exceptional direction, this simple party concept is transformed into an engaging environment where you are swept away from reality and partying with these dysfunctional yet lovable characters. The soundtrack is amazing and greatly adds to the ambiance of this film. Do yourself a favor and purchase this outstanding masterpiece!

Perhaps the worst movie I have ever seen. Why does it exist?

One of the worst movies I have ever seen, save your time and money.

This was the first time I've seen Laura Prepon outside of That 70's Show, and she was great, as was the large supporting cast. Lots of funny moments mixed in with the drama of her 30th birthday. Thumbs up!

I didn't know what to expect from a film that all takes place inside a kitchen. But the film was really clever and surprisingly fun! I didn't feel claustrophobic at all and the talented ensemble cast certainly keeps the action moving along swiftly. Even though this is a comedy, there's actually a lot of heart and touching moments in the movie. Laura Prepon has never been better and Dreama Walker almost steals the whole movie. The soundtrack is also top notch, with songs from some really cool indie bands. Definitely a good rental if you're looking for something light and fun.

This is a great movie for a light-hearted night in. The plot is entertaining, there are a few really funny scenes, and it's refreshing that it is a bit like a combination of situations that you could imagine actually happening in real life. Not like some romantic comedies with sappy/cheesy endings, or comedies that are based on improbable situations. This movie is well-done and very highly recommended!

I don't usually write reviews, but this movie was incredibly stupid

You'd think a movie that takes place all in one location might be claustrophobic and boring but director Ishai Setton rises above those hurdles in this quirky film about a girl whose 30th birthday celebration is definitely one that will be remembered. The acting is good and the lead characters, flawed as they are, are definitely likeable with a lot of heart. Good soundtrack and an overall entertaining journey especially if you hate celebrating your birthday and want to know that you're in good company.

I was utterly charmed by this movie. I thought the performances (particularly Dreama Walker and Laura Prepon) were nuanced and deep and real. Maybe it's because I'm getting into my thirties, but most of the storylines resonated with me. I loved the entire concept of a party for someone who is totally not psyched to be turning 30. The music is great. I'm not quite sure how I became so comfortable hanging out in one room for an entire hour and a half, but the director kept it fresh and kept it moving.
