Description

Director Whit Stillman (Metropolitan) returns to New York nightlife themes, this time with a very danceable beat. Two beautiful recent college graduates played by Kate Beckinsale (Serendipity) and Chlöe Sevigny ("Big Love") escape at night from their publishing jobs and terrible apartment to the most popular dance club of disco's waning days in the early '80s, with New Wave breezes blowing in fashion and music.

  • The best of the Trilogy!

I quickly consumed Metroplitan, Barcelona, and then TLDOD. Each got better, both from an audio and production value and also in whit and social satire. These movies fall in the "comedy of manners" genre; which is an artful way of saying that the plot exists only to provide chances for slick, clever dialogue which pokes fun at the zeitgeist of the 1980s. Chris Eigeman is amazing in all three movies; how he did not become an A-list star is beyond me. For anyone born between 1960-1970, please watch these. You will be on a time warp of joy.

It’s all there in the Lady and the Tramp scene — Whit Stillman 101. And look for the glimpses of characters from Metropolitan and Barcelona. The lovely Jan Austen reader triumphs!

Great story, especially the part with Ursula Sienko at 1:06:21. She is absolutely stunning! She definitely steals the scene.
