Description

Based on the best-selling novel, and from the creators of The Matrix Trilogy and the director of Run Lola Run, Cloud Atlas explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future.

  • Worst movie for every big name that was in it

I am a huge movie lover and I enjoy films of every genre. I can find as much joy watching a B / low-budget horror movie as I can watching a big studio mega-blockbuster. It is VERY rare for me to hate a movie or consider it unwatchable; less than 10 or so in my entire life… It is even more rare for me to not finish a movie in one sitting, or at least in the same day if something comes up… It took me five attempts to finish watching this garbage. And once I start a movie, I must finish it… This trash missed the mark in every possible way and I think the reason it is rated so well on here is because of planted reviews. It wasn’t a good drama, it wasn’t a good sci-fi, it wasn’t a good action flick… It wasn’t scary, it wasn’t exciting, it wasn’t funny, and it definitely wasn’t fun. I have no idea what the studios had on stars like Tom Hanks that forced him into being a part of this mess, but I can only assume they had his children being held hostage and were threatening to harm them. This film is absolutely in my bottom 25 of all time and I’d give anything to have my time trying to watch it given back to me.
  • Seriously, AMAZING!

I don’t know why this movie doesn’t get a higher rating. Yes, it’s long, but it is truly PHENOMENAL! It is my favorite movie of all time. If you haven’t seen it, it is a must watch!
  • Ambitious filmmaking but with many flaws

Needless to say Cloud Atlas wasn't my expectations seeing it because right after the embrassment of the Wachowisk's other film The Matrix Revolutions which packed a lot of hate and desire towards the Matrix troilgy and left me disappointed. Although the Matrix is still a cult classic and the sequel was a bit more updated Revolutions was a hitter miss enstallment in the franchise with Wachowski's new film Cloud Altas is an ambitious film with all sort of intelligent filmmaking and washed out storylines to keep you company. Cloud Altas centers around 6 different stories that connect with each other in a way that the conclusive narrative is stuck in between character development and daring visual effects. Gotta say the visual effects were more realistc and had a lot of style towards the actors to shine, The Wachowski brothers have accomplished the matrix troilgy i know but Cloud Atlas is nothing sort of fraustrating or entertaining for me to be engaged to the story but all i found from Cloud Atlas was untentionally hailrious momments. Cloud Altas has a stellar cast including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent, Jim Sturgess, Ben Whisaw (Skyfall) and Hugo Weaving (The Lord of the Rings troilgy). The cast is supporting enough to play each other sex and race throughout the entire era of times and events that are occured in the film and for me it was distracting to see other characters with some level of connection and charactiscts they accomplished. Cloud Atlas left me with questions than answers could it be that The Wachowski brothers made a film worse than the Matrix Revolutions? no but with all the narrative stories and complicated plotholes in each era of time the result is beyond writting and special characters that are likable or interesting for the audience to get bored or confused into what is happening. Now i do like some of the stories but some of the acting and character development felt incomplete and left me wondering who is this made for? can i enjoy a sci-fi movie mixed with the sin city of storytelling or a future world mixed with Blade Runner, The Fifth Element or Akria (Anime) But i thought this sci-fi movie was going to be about timelapse into action after action but visually this movie looks gorgeous, yeah this film looks like a brilliant set piece for each and other story. Cloud Altas is a little disappointing despite it's brilliant cast members that are casted in the film and not that the movie is neither confusing or lacklusting for me to enjoy it. Decide for yourself either you love Cloud Atlas or not you can still watch it not knowing your expecatations are running low on gas.

If something in the movie happened that related to anything else I totally missed it. Kept looking for the connection and never found any. Read some of the other ratings and they also couldn't understand a lot of what was being said. Should have watched paint dry.

Wonderful Cinema, Characters, Performances, Casting, and Story. A breath of fresh air in the Swamp of Explosions, Fast Cars, And over the top Cliche that has become the Hollywood Machine. Saludos Tykwer & Wachowskis

One of my favorites! I know it isn’t for everyone, in fact a few of my friends HATED it. I love the recurring themes, I love that the actors play different archetypes in each timeline, I love the subtle references - it is a beautifully complex and poetic story. I do think it may help some people to watch it more than once since the timeline jumps can be confusing.
