Any movie that states with a bottomless Gina Gershon is good cinema in my book. Rex was under used as a member of the film though.

A great movie, a great cast and not for the squeamish. This is black comedy at its blackest! I really liked the movie and it is a credit to the actors that you really don't like their characters. They are scummy, nasty, vicious and pitch perfect. I believe this is a modern masterpiece and shows just how great William Friedkin can be. He nailed this and made a movie for adults. Well deserved NC-17. Appropriate for sure. Just once in a while Hollywood can make a truly awesome piece of cinema. Matthew M., who I never warmed to as an actor, was stunning! What a wonderful performance. Sick, creepy, debauched, mean, charming... I could go on. The other cast members were superb! This is truly a masterpiece that will resonate long after you see it. Like a lot of movies that push the limits, it attracts negative reviews. That’s fair. If you don’t like it, you don’t like it. Some movies polarize viewers. Just look at the reviews, mostly one star or five stars. It has an average of three stars because half the reviews hated it (1 star) and the other half loved it (5 stars). Chances are you will either love this movie or you will hate it. This is a dark, grimy, slimy, degrading, sick, twisted, foul, and unpleasant piece of movie brilliance. I have watched it a few times and it just gets better with each view. While this will often shock folk and make them squirm for sure, it is movie making at its best. A must see! Don't take the kids. I’m off to see it again!!!

FIRST OF ALL- This is NO PORNO so if you were looking for one like Bou Phillips than search elswhere. 2. The performances are amazing with this and it is better than the live stage play. 3. This only gets bloody the longer it goes on. Its not for kids only MATURE adults. 4. It is hard baked Lansdale-esque Noir at its greatest.

The actors tried, but couldn't overcome the shallow plot and cheap production. So the movie turned out to be just as much trash as the people it tried to depict.

A movie that is not afraid to share the "secret" ingredient in Colonel's recipe and serving fried chicken the way the way he intended! While other 70's directors like Scorsese and Coppola are making big bloated ,splashy,yet empty movies William Friedkin is still delivering tight and true to form great movies. This is the man who made the Exorcist, French connection , among many other great movies.The movie is the best of its genre since Blood Simple. Great performances and pitch perfect story. Mathew McConaughey's best performance since Dazed and Confused. The key evidence presented against a character in the movie,a certain photos,is better than any CSI episode . Tarantino wishes he could make this. Too original for him,it's not a rip off Asian or Italian movies!

A perfect white trash murder. The subject material might be difficult for some to stomach, but the performances are great. Especially from Matthew McConaughey. Plus, the turns this movie takes will blow off your socks.

It was porn. I had to turn it off. Waste of time and money.

This is one horrible movie. Don't waist your time or money. It seemed like the actors were given a lot of space to improvise and it did not work.

Its a really great movie with a bit of a sick twist. Matthew plays a pretty sick individual, but nothing about him is weak. When he gets angry, all hell breaks loose. And if that is not enough... you get to see his absolutely flawless body.
