I like the movie although the movie is 95% based on Gordon and how he discovered Batman and became so notable within the GCPD
  • More like Gordon: Year One

But if you are tired of all the adaptations of Batman's origin, especially now that we've seen it twice on the big screen in less than 10 years... this is the definitive adaptation of his origin. If you are interested in that, here it is. It's faithful to the book... the only thing... the voice actors seem like they all took a sedative before recording.

It is a near-perfect adaption of the Miller classic. I would recommend it to anyone who likes Batman, a must-see.
  • Fun movie for the true origins of batman

Personally the graphic novel was a little better but the movie adaptation is still quite good. The voice acting is quite good, the only complaint i have is that Ben's batman sounds like he read the script directly into his mic so he sounds a bit monotone at times. The animation is where this movie shines, all their motiona are fluid and their looks arent altered very much from the graphic novel. One thing that might upset viewers is lack of an actual batman, he only appears a few times throughout the film, this movie focusses on Gordon and the corruption in Gotham, not Batman. Overall i was quite impresses, so im giving it a 8.5/10.

You know it's gonna be good. The dark, gritty Batman with some insight into the psychological underpinnings relentlessly driving the Dark Knight. Loved the writing, loved the dialogue, and definitely loved the music.
  • D.C. rarely disappoints.

    The title says it all!
  • Accurate, But Awful

While this movie seemed to be accurate to the graphic novel Batman: Year One, I must confess - I hated it. Just like the comic, I hated the storyline. What is it with people writing characters to be unethical? Gordon having an affair with a business partner? Come on! What's up with that? Besides that, Batman was pathetic in this film. Nothing felt awesome about him in this one. Very unsympathetic characterization. It was awful.
  • Good Movie, but Dark Knight Returns Pt. 1 is better

That's just me. I read DKR first and THEN BY1. I guess DKR was more darker than BY1 for me. BY1 was dark but it just didn't have that same feeling of greatness that DKR captured. I'm not saying I hate BY1 in general,

its like an adaption from Dark Knight [was originally designed as the story between particular parts of Batman Begins] and this one actually came through very well! enjoyed it thoroughly!
