Description

Roddy McDowall returns as Caesar, the intelligent chimp who led an ape revolution against their human masters in the last installment, Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. Since then, humans nearly rendered themselves extinct in an all-out nuclear war, and the survivors are now beneath the well-preserved ape society. Now a benevolent leader of his people, Caesar supports a peaceful coexistence with humans, much to the dismay of his militant counterpart General Aldo (Claude Akins). When Caesar learns that new evidence regarding his parents’ murder has been found in the Forbidden City, he journeys to the bombarded wasteland with the human MacDonald (Austin Stoker) and the omniscient orangutang Virgil (Paul Williams). While he does find what he is looking for, Caesar also unwittingly awakens a flock of human survivors, who follows his group back home. While the humans prepare for a climactic battle with the apes, General Aldo prepares to challenge Caesar for control, and all hell breaks loose as we witness the BATTLE FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES.

The clamax of the Ape movies, was not the best, but clearly the writers was going a bit bananas with this. but the final one should be sometimes the weakest of the films. Not as violent as Conquest, but still a good sci-fi flick, full of images like the mutant humans travel in a school Bus!!! Go figure. Any way I liked it and that what counts. My word of advice is this movie is watchable,
  • The weakest of the Planet of the Apes film series

The first two apes films were great pieces of cinema. They got an unexpected sequel and it felt unnecessary. Conquest, the sequel to the last, was a little better than the last, but it was still unnecessary. Even though it was unnecessary they at least finished it up. However, in order to describe this film director John Landis said this when he talked about Battle for the Planet of the Apes with Roddy McDowall "It's about the money." Even though this is the weakest of the film series........at least it's not the atrocious Tim Burton remake [No disrespect, but I just didn't like that film]. After this film, the Apes series had a TV show. I'll tell the truth, I haven't seen the series but I heard that Sarek of Vulcan- I mean the Romulan Commander- I mean Mark Lenard was an ape in that series. I leave the reviews up to other sci-fi fans because I think they can explain it in a better context.
