Description

Someone is killing beautiful young hipsters in East L.A. But while the bloody trail is cold for the super-apathetic detectives, Charlie, a crime scene cleaner with a penchant for Sherlockian deduction, begins finding some unusual clues in the demo CDs of indie bands left behind at the murder sites which he shares with two out-of-luck filmmakers turned crime scene videographers. Problem is nobody is really sure that Charlie isn't the serial killer. Meanwhile, the dead hipsters are piling up like pancakes in thrift-store flannel, there's a rival Danish film crew, and on top of everything else, it looks like the killer is now making an experimental film of his own. Simple, not really, but then murder never is. Features local acts from Eastside Los Angeles and around the globe - The Airborne Toxic Event, Le Switch, Wallpaper, The Franks, Barr, Tobacco, The Sonics, The Irish Goodbye, Her Space Holiday, The Cribs, Gavin Castleton.

Rotten Tomatoes reviewers are too ignorent to percieve this genius work of art let alone critique it. And i myself would have to craft a dissertation to even begin to be a smidgen worthy to serve you with the slightest glimmer of hope to elucidate for you why you should watch this movie in order to bring honor to every movie you have ever watched and to make it possible for you to ever watch another movie again!
  • Not all that interesting..

For me, the movie did not have much going for it. You can't take it seriously, true, but then it wasn't funny either. The funniest scene in my view was the "hello" from the danish cameraman, and that one is already in the trailer. In other scenes the laughs just didn't come out as it was all a bit predictable in that regard. I guess the movie is supposed to make fun of those pseudo-reality TV shows, but it did not come across as such. Not being able to take the movie seriously and it not being all that funny either, the movie seemed bland and uninteresting to me. You definitely could do worse though.

Good script. Thoughtful performances. An ambitious project for an indie film and they pulled it off in spades. Much funnier than most comedies in the iTunes top ten. What are you going to watch instead, Date Night? I would love to see more stuff from the Vacationeers. Thumb up, +1, Recommend.

I saw this at the New Orleans Film Festival the fall of 2009 and loved it. I had the chance to meet the creators and still have their button pinned to my sweater. It's funny and different, don't take it to seriously, it wasn't meant to be viewed that way. Just enjoy it for what it is; Four guys making a movie and it will be the best one you've seen in a while.
