Clark Gable and Myrna Loy headline this film version, released while the production was still running on Broadway, of Sidney Kingsley's Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Dr. George Ferguson (Gable), a dynamic young medical intern whose brilliant future seems assured, plans to study in Vienna and then serve as the assistant to his mentor, Dr. Hochberg (Jean Hersholt), Ferguson is also set to marry socially prestigious and wealthy Laura Hudson (Loy). But when Laura expresses displeasure over Ferguson's dedication to his work, he enters into a brief affair with student nurse Barbara Dennin (Elizabeth Allan). Ferguson must make the difficult choice between his professional and personal goals.
