I was a huge fan of the first and thought the second was ok but when they went they started using some sorcery or magic times stuff it just threw me off and went too far. It wasn't well paced and felt like it tried to be bigger than it had to be. This movie was a huge letdown. The action was even as fun and its like they just tried to throw more things on the screen than trying to have some incredible one on one battles and such. The realism is what I loved about the first two. This one lost all that. Terrible movie.

As a trilogy Ong-Bak works beautifully. If it was simply the first movie that would have been more than enough but if it had stopped at 2 there would be no real correlation between the two movies because we needed the third for the completion of the story. I would say to people either only watch the first one if you don't want to watch all 3 but don't just watch the first two, you'll be left with a bit of frustration. The third movie escalates the stories action and story to a beautiful degree and if you are a martial arts fan the trilogy will definitely satisfy you. People may be confused because between the first movie and the last two you get this switched timeline however what many might not pick up on is that the second and third films focus on the character who would eventually be the savior whose statue is stolen in the first movie. Tony Jaa is one of the most incredible and most underrated martial arts stars in cinema to date. His acting combines a gentle nuance and wisdom but with the naivety of a child who is learning about the world around him. Don't listen to the critics if you like martial arts or are empathic towards the characters you see on screen. They simply look for surface modern intelligence in their films that a story like this does not need to cater to.

First understand what this movie is...an incredible display and design of the art of the human body in movement-The fight screens are among, if not, the best and most brilliantly choreographed and executed EVER-If you can't recognize that you do not understand what you are looking for here-The storyline is very solid and offers a glimpse into a unique culture-Jaa is the most amazing director of this in the business and needs to be acknowledged for that-And there is actually an underlying look into humanity, several valuable lessons that can be understood if you can...Ong Bak 2 was better overall fight scenes but this series should be grouped together-And judged by the collective body-

They need to make Ong-bak 4

First off, if the movie doesn't work don't review it because YOU DIDNT WATCH IT. The movie is a solid B, nothing that stokes the imagination, but not terrible in terms of this genre. I certainly agree with the sentiment that this should be viewed with Ong bak 2 for the full value.

The movie promised to be awesome, but when I saw that it was only in Thai with subtitles in English I was really disappointed. The content is ok and the action and performances. Good quality and actors. It's just ok.

All Ong Bak tell a story that continues in the martial arts world. Only one that has studied the art can conceive the true meaning. Those who only look for face value are empty shells with no direction within themselves. Know depth and perception of skill, training and execution. Only then will you realize that these 3 films are the greatest of all time today.

Ever since the very first Ong Bak. He already set a bar really high for himself to when it comes to fight scenes. In my opinion, he was able to do that with The Protector. Now going into Ong Bak 2, I knew it was more of a tale of a legend, so it gave way to more mystical elements. He still showed off his range with the different forms of martial arts displayed. The film also thrived on his prowess with the weapons. Do I believe he succeded, yes. Ong Bak 3 would definitely be the weakest of the three. It's not something I haven't seen before in other movies, but it just wasn't as well executed. If not for Tony taking a sabatical to meditate which affected production on both films, I think the product may have been better. What I do appreciate is Tony was able to display another Thai martial artist in Dan Chupong, who played the Demon Crow. All in all, it was a good movie. It isn't one that can stand on it's own and make me want to watch over and over. Do yourself a favor and watch Ong Bak 2 then 3 right after to fully enjoy this movie.
