Just a fantastic movie, straight through to the very end. There's never been a movie produced that better portrays the love of two friends, and the tragedy that rises when it is forgotten. Shame to find it only purchasable in standard def, even though it's rentable in HD. Guess I'll simply have to wait.

I am patient, I have to be with iTunes most days, but every once in a while the patience pays off. For all the "Gigli"'s and "American Pie part 692" they manage to put a TRULY beautiful, classic, miraculous movie like this one. I cannot in any way, shape, or form recommend this movie highly enough! It's beautifully shot, the acting is of a caliber that defies categorization, the music is beautiful, and the plot... ah the plot! Sean Connery is at his utmost best, Michael Caine is brilliant, and Christopher Lee is great himself as the foil in the plot to seize power in far off Kafiristan. So, yeah, GET THIS FILM!!! It is, bar none, the best film I have seen in decades and ranks right up there with the "Jean de Florette/Manon de la Source" duology as the most perfect tragedy I've ever seen.

This is the greatest 'Empire' movie ever made. It just barely edges out 'Zulu' also with Michael Caine. This movie should be required viewing for any anglophile or Brit.
