Lisztomania

You'll either hate Ken Russell's imaginative vision or love it for its creative chances it takes. Either way you can't deny that 'Lisztomania' is unlike any other film you have seen. For me, it's a bawdy, witty, slapstick, satirical, political, sexual, homage to Hollywood, Rock n' Roll and of course Franz Liszt as seen through the eyes and genius mind of Ken Russell. Russell didn't want to tell a story in any sort of conventional way. He allowed his imagery and music to be a part of the storytelling process. He took extreme chances with his films that went against mainstream films. Therefore, having a unique vision (not unlike Stanley Kubrick's mad genius)... You can always tell when a film is a Ken Russell film. If you'll let your mind go and allow yourself to enter the bizarre world that Russell has created in 'Lisztomania,' then you are guaranteed an outrageous time! Too bad that Russell (and Kubrick) are sadly gone because we will never see the likes of them again. 'Lisztomania' is a lasting tribute to the one-of-a-kind mind of Ken Russell.
