Phenomenal movie. Amazing that it was produced prior to 9-11. The issues of racism, violation of civil rights, interrogation techniques, etc are topics that came to the forefront after this movie's release.

Just watched this movie. It was painful seeing the WTC in the background. Surprising relevance to events in New York 2 years after. Although some at the time said that this movie was implausible it could have gone this way if more events happened.

Denzel does a superb job as NY FBI SAC Anthony Hubbard. He's tough, driven, and fair. He balances perfectly the need to be an aggressive counter-terrorism agent and a by-the-book supervisor. Excellent casting opposite Bruce Willis who himself does a great job as a somewhat reluctant Army general thrust into a situation that he believes necessitates extreme measures to meet the extreme issues.

Hollywood should just make good stories and quit with the heavy-handed politics.
