Description

Welcome back to Crystal Lake in this Extended Cut version of the chilling re-imagining of the classic horror film "Friday the 13th." Never-before-seen footage promises more thrills, horror and gore as Clay Miller (Jared Padalecki) heads up to the eerie woods of legendary Crystal Lake, stumbling upon the creaky remains of rotting old cabins behind moss-covered trees. And that's not the only thing lying in wait under the brush. Against the advice of police and cautions from the locals, Clay pursues what few leads he has in the search for his missing sister, Whitney (Amanda Righetti), with the help of Jenna (Danielle Panabaker), a young woman he meets among a group of college kids up for an all-thrills weekend. But they are all about to find much more than they bargained for. Little do they know, they've entered the domain of one of the most terrifying specters in American film history--the infamous killer who haunts Crystal Lake, armed with a razor-sharp machete... Jason Voorhees.

It's not bad or terrible, but I wasn't impressed. As a fan of horror films, I did not feel this remake was as shocking as the originals or any of the other slasher remakes of the decade such as Rob Zombie's Halloween or A Nightmare on Elm Street. It's hard to see what is happening most of the film because of the darkness. You never see exactly what happens to Jason's victims except for once or twice. The movie overall is intense, but the darkness and lame kills make it hard to enjoy.
  • A fantastic remake!

Let's be honest series fans, we don't care about the "canon" for this franchise...we just want to see Jason doing what he does best and this movie has that in spades. It effectively combines the plots of the first three films and retells the mythos for a new generation. It has a lot of style and surprisingly decent acting (starring "that guy from Fringe"). Really the same only bone I have to pick with this film is that it didn't lead to a new line of sequels. Expect a high body count consisting of teenager stereotypes and lots of creative violence in this slasher that doesn't bother to reinvent the wheel.
  • Originals are scarier!

I saw this in the theater thinking I will get scared but it didn't scare me at all. I think the originals are much creepy.

Forget Rotten Tomatoes, unless a movies is 30 years old, or an “art film” they are going to give it a bad review. Maybe they just intentionally stick their reviewers on genre they hate to begin with, I don’t know… As a fan of the early movies, I can tell you this movie is a great homage to those movies. It has what you would expect from a good Jason movie, some terrifying scenes, and a little bit of comic relief (this movies does that pretty well) to break things up for you. This is a horror movies “by the books” and sometimes, that’s not a bad thing! It will still scare and surprise you for sure! Great for Halloween!
  • Get the regular one

Don't get the extended cut it has stuff that isn't aloud in theaters for a reason(not the blood and gore other stuff). That doesn't get blurred out.
