Vanity Fair

Humanized a book which I always find a slightly depressing read and made it vivid. Excellent characterizations...the Becky-Rawdon relationship really believable and tragic. And then of course all the usual wonderful Brit character actors doing their usual wonderful renditions. As icing, great costumes, scenary and historical reconstructions...altogether a great treat.

Robert pattinson was ment to be in this movie in the end but they didn't even tell him his scene was cut.

What could be more interesting than the tale of a person who wants to climb a seemingly impenetrable social ladder of success? Thackery certainly knew what he was doing as he spun the story of not just Becky Sharp, but of the Osbornes, Crawleys, and everyone else. The movie does move a little fast, but it's not hard to figure out who's who and who's doing what part way through. A great movie; the actors/actresses did a wonderful job! James Purefoy (Rawdon Crawley) and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (George Osborne) add to the movie not just because of their acting ability, but also 'cause who wouldn't like to feast upon eye candy when watching a period film?! The best scene is probably when Becky tells Rawdon she's going to have a baby. The way this scene was written was superbly done.

I was bored and decied to give this a try considering i love these types of movies but was very much dissapointed! the movie was very complex and also longer than it should have been

Almost 200 years ago William Makepeace Thackery sat down to write an epic and what he came up with was "Vanity Fair" the tale of a young woman who will do almost anything to climb the social ladder. I watched the movie after reading the book and I loved it, it follows almost exactly to the original tale, set in England durning the time of the Napoleonic Wars. However, if you haven't read the book you may not find this colorful epic quite to your liking as there are many different people to keep track of. It is beautifully written and directed- with an all-star cast. I think Mr. Thackery would have been pleased. Starring Reese Witherspoon, Jim Broadbent, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

this was a good watch but it was a little slow and some what hard to follow. There are a lot of characters that get mixed up because their names go by fast. This movie kind of reminded me of an newer Gone With the Wind i would recommend for adults who are looking for a good drama
